What does our harvest reveal about the way we care for others?
Continuing his series on the biblical meaning of harvest, Bishop Leon Benjamin turns to Deuteronomy 24 to explore a powerful principle: God’s provision was never intended to stop with the person receiving it.
Our experiences, resources, work, and blessings can become opportunities to demonstrate God’s care to the people around us.
Before instructing Israel how to treat others, God reminds them that they were once in bondage and that He redeemed them.
Bishop Benjamin emphasizes the importance of remembering where God has brought us from. When we remember the grace, provision, and freedom we have received, we gain a different perspective on what we have been given—and why we should care for others.
Care is not presented as weakness.

Rather than carrying every burden ourselves, we can trust God with our own cares while remaining available to serve the people He places before us.
Deuteronomy 24 instructs those gathering their harvest not to return for a forgotten sheaf. Instead, it was to remain for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow.
The principle is simple but significant: don't consume everything for yourself.
Our harvest can create room for someone else to receive help, encouragement, wisdom, or provision.
Why should we care?
For Bishop Benjamin, the answer begins with remembering what God has already done for us. Gratitude changes the way we approach what we have.
When we recognize our own story of provision, deliverance, or restoration, we can become more intentional about extending that same spirit of care to others.
Bishop Benjamin uses the image of birds flying together in formation to illustrate the strength that comes through alignment.
Each bird contributes to the movement of the group, allowing them to travel together toward their destination. In the same way, communities become stronger when people work together, support one another, and remain aligned around a shared purpose.
